Person A: “So, you’re telling me that you just went up to the karaoke stage, and without any practice, sang ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in front of a hundred people?”

Person B: “YES, and I must say I did it with such aplomb, the crowd thought Freddie Mercury had been reincarnated! Well, at least, that’s what they seemed to think with their horrified gasps and stunned silence.”

Person A: “I’m sure they were absolutely speechless at your…err…talent.”

Person B: “They were totally captivated! I left them in a state of shock and awe!”

Person A: “Shock, I believe. Awe, I’m not so sure.”

Spanish:

The word “aplomb” in Spanish is “aplomo”.

As in, “El orador habló con aplomo a pesar de la presión del público.”

This translates to “The speaker spoke with aplomb despite the pressure from the audience.”
